There are a substantial number of men and women in this world who love other men and women just as much as heterosexual couples love their significant others, and it is demeaning to say that their ability to marry a member of the opposite sex gives them equal rights.  Being gay is not a “sex practice” or a “sex life”—it is being a person, and as Ms. Bachmann herself stated, it is the government’s role to protect our civil rights, not on the basis of who we chose to love, but on the basis that we are all human beings deserving of equal protection under the law.
